Do you want to attend a school where you can stand up, walk away from your desk and leave sitting in a typical classroom behind? Do you want to learn in extraordinary places, including the middle of the ocean and an Entrepreneurship Center that helps turn your ideas into a real company?
Here at UNH, we don't just talk about experiential learning in college; our students participate in hands-on learning experiences in the field every day. Read on to learn about five of our favorite Wildcat classrooms that are not actually classrooms.
The Health Sciences Simulation Center
At the 20,000-square-foot Health Sciences Simulation Center, students learn in fully-equipped labs that simulate health care settings, such as hopitals and clinics. These students graduate ahead of the curve, after practicing in a clinical setting with real equipment and technology.

The Chase Ocean Engineering Laboratory
This impressive facility includes a deep-water testing basin and a wave maker. UNH students use the Chase Lab for ocean engineering research, including ocean mapping, developing oil spill response technology and so much more!

A Boat on the Atlantic Ocean
UNH is the perfect place for students who want to study and research our oceans and coasts. UNH's Judd Gregg Marine Research Complex is located 15 miles from campus in scenic New Castle, NH. Natalie '23, an ocean engineering major, says, "I’ve deployed ocean instrumentation at sea to measure tides in the Great Bay ... and even gotten SCUBA certified through one of the courses UNH offers."

T-Hall Lawn
Thompson Hall (T-Hall) is the center of our campus. It's also a common area for professors to hold outdoor classes! As you walk down Main Street, you'll see students sitting in a circle on the ground for a class discussion, or sitting on the grass in front of T-Hall for the best view to sketch the building for an art class.
The ECenter
UNH's Entrepreneurship Center (ECenter) offers entrepreneurial-minded UNH students of any major hands-on, experiential programming to inspire and mentor them at any point in the entrepreneurship process, from idea generation to company creation. Brett '26 says, "If you are interested in innovation in any form, UNH has an Entrepreneurship Center just for you! They have a variety of hands-on learning programs, competitions and also offer one-on-one idea coaching."
There is so many more classrooms that are not actual classrooms where Wildcats learn:

- Wildcats perform music in the Paul Creative Arts Center: read Grace's day in the life
- Wildcats test technology in the InterOperability Laboratory (IOL): read Justin's day in the life
