Hamel Scholars Shadow Day

Hamel Scholars Shadow Day
Students studying at the Honors College
congratulations on your hamel scholarship

Friday, March 6 | Wednesday, March 11 | Tuesday, March 24
 Session 1 (8:00 AM-2:00 PM) | Session 2 (1:00 PM-6:00 PM)

UNH Hamel Scholars are looking forward to hosting you on campus. Register for one of our three Hamel Scholars Shadow Days to get a personalized campus experience and learn more about what it means to be a Hamel Scholar in the UNH Honors College. Connect one-on-one with a Hamel Scholar to ask questions about the program, extracurriculars, coursework and about daily life at UNH.  We will work hard to match you with a student who shares an academic or cocurricular interest.

The Hamel Scholars Program

As a Hamel Scholar, you will join a vibrant intellectual community with close-knit honors living, meaningful faculty connections, and opportunities to pursue innovative research starting your first year.

Details and Registration

Students will have the option to attend one of the two sessions offered each Shadow day. Please hold open 8:00 am-2:00 pm for the first session or 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm for the second session. Holding these times gives us the flexibility to make a better match for you.  Due to the demand of the program, students are only allowed to attend one session.

While students are participating in their shadow experience, parents/guardians and other guests will have the opportunity to explore campus on a self-guided tour or explore the Durham community. Feel free to ask us for places we recommend seeing or visiting when you check-in.

Note: Students will likely not be on campus for the entirety of the "held" time. You can expect your total time on campus to be about 3 hours within the selected window.

Students attending a Hamel Shadow Day can expect to

  • Meet and spend time with a Hamel Scholar
  • Attend a class with your student host
  • Eat at one of UNH's fantastic dining halls

Once you’ve registered, an email with your personal start and end times, information about your Hamel Scholar host and details about where to meet will be provided at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled visit.
