The University of New Hampshire is proud to announce the establishment of its Hamel Honors and Scholars College, which will greatly expand UNH’s capacity to identify, reach and support high-achieving students. Opening in the fall of 2024, the Hamel Honors and Scholars College will build on the DNA of the University Honors Program to create a transformational homebase for academic leaders at the center of a top public research university.

Flexible Curriculum

Honors College students will choose how to distribute their honors work among courses, research and co-curricular experiences.

Automatic Consideration

No need to go through an additional application process — all accepted students are automatically considered for the Honors College.

Available Fall 2024

The first incoming cohort in the Honors College, likely 250 to 300 students, is slated to be welcomed for the fall 2024 semester.

    Honors College students will have a dedicated living-learning community created specifically for high-achieving students on campus inside a renovated Huddleston Hall and in select residence hall spaces. 

     

     

 
We are also proud to announce the expansion of the Hamel Scholars program, which provides merit scholarships and special programming to exceptional students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and community service. Hamel Scholars will be offered new programming that will allow them to build connections with New Hampshire, national and international leaders and institutions and will help develop their leadership skills through workshops, trainings and experiences.
