How available are professors at UNH?

UNH professors are enthusiastic about working one-on-one with their students. Students are encouraged to ask questions or connect with their professor if they need help or are struggling with a class. Professors set aside weekly drop-in time for students to meet with them, called office hours.

What academic support services are available to my student?

There is a wide array of academic support services available to your student at UNH.

Questions about a paper?

Students can bring writing from any course or major to a one-on-one writing session at the Connors Writing Center.

Struggling in class?

Students can sign up for a tutoring session with a peer who's already aced a class with Knack Tutoring, or form study groups in the Mathematics Center (MaC).

Need academic advice?

One-on-one academic advising is available within each college. Students work with educational counselors and peer mentors in the Center for Academic Resources (CFAR).

"The University Advising Center was so helpful and knew how to help when I was stuck on what to do next. My undeclared advisor at the time was always there to help and was extremely supportive of my decisions."

What happens if my student changes their major?

College is a time of growth and discovery — and it's totally normal if your student isn't sure about a major right away. In fact, around 75% of UNH students change their major at least once. Undeclared students receive one-on-one support through the University Advising Center, and if they want to switch majors within their college, they can start that process through the dean's office.
