Is it okay to be undeclared in college? How do I choose a major? Welcome back to our Student Spotlight series, where you can meet real UNH students, see campus through their eyes and learn more about why they love UNH. Felicia Reppucci '26, a sport management and leadership major and business administration minor, came to UNH as an undeclared student, unsure of her path, but today, she's right at home.
Though Felicia was initially worried about not having everything figured out, she soon learned that being undeclared gave her the opportunity to explore lots of different classes and that UNH is full of welcoming communities, like the Club Softball team and a group of friends who are always here for her no matter what.
1. Why did you choose UNH?
I chose UNH because of how beautiful the campus is. Touring it the first couple of times, I just got the homiest feeling compared to other campuses I had looked at. When I toured here, everybody seemed so friendly, and I immediately got a welcoming and inclusive feeling.
2. How did you choose your major?
I’ve always had a big passion for playing sports and looked up to those working in them. At first, I was really convinced I wanted to study business until I realized sports is where I needed to be.
3. How did being undeclared impact your UNH experience?
When starting here at UNH undeclared, it definitely felt a little nerve-wracking that everybody had a plan but me. In a positive light, being undeclared gave me opportunities to take classes within different majors to see what I enjoyed. Being undeclared for a year and a half also allowed me to focus on prerequisites that I knew had to be completed at some point either way.
4. Are there any particular classes, professors, advisors or experiences that helped you choose your major?
My advisor at the University Advising Center was one of the most helpful resources the campus had. He made it easy to make decisions and led me on the right path. As for classes, Introduction to Sport Marketing with Sophia Min was one of the classes that really made the content feel important and exciting to learn.
5. How did the University Advising Center help support you as an undeclared student?
The University Advising Center was so helpful and knew how to help when I was stuck on what to do next. My undeclared advisor at the time was always there to help and was extremely supportive of my decisions.
6. What are some initial fears you had as an undeclared student?
As an undeclared student, I always felt like I was behind and wouldn’t finish all major required classes in four years. Watching everybody else take the classes they had to for their majors made me feel like I was playing catch-up. Thankfully, I’m now on the right track to finish in four years.
7. If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself while you were undeclared?
I would absolutely tell myself not to stress! I think I put a lot of pressure on myself for not knowing exactly what path I was interested in. I believe it’s important to not forget that everything works out the way it needs to!
8. What is your favorite memory from your time at UNH so far?
My favorite memory at UNH in my time here has been meeting some of my best friends. They all make living away from home so much easier and more fun. Having people that you can lean on when times get hard is one of the greatest gifts anybody could ask for!
