1. Why did you choose UNH?
As soon as I drove through the campus, I felt it: this was the campus for me. When I saw the buildings on Main Street standing in a grand manner, I could immediately picture myself studying in any of the green spaces around campus or walking into my classes.
2. How did you choose your major?
I came in as an English major and have stuck with it throughout my academic career at UNH. I’ve always had a passion for a variety of topics and thought that the battle would’ve been between choosing science or music to study. In my senior year of high school, during a Gothic Literature class, I realized that I love to discover the relationships between literature and humanity. The environment created by the teacher of the course allowed for infinite discourse and open conversation with others who were passionate about our readings.
I have also completed a minor in Spanish. Continuing to learn another language from high school gave me an opportunity to connect with another community.

3. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned at UNH so far?
Studies aren’t everything. They are important in furthering your education, but community engagement is just as important. Attending events outside of classes helps build lasting connections to people you might not have met outside of university. Learning to balance it all is the best lesson I've learned from the past four years.
4. What do you love about being in the College of Liberal Arts (COLA)?
I have never had a professor who did not understand the lives that college students live. The faculty in the English department specifically, as well as other COLA faculty, have been accommodating to the personal lives of students and, through that, have fostered a welcoming community.
5. How has UNH prepared you for the future?
My liberal arts education applies to many aspects of life. I have a better understanding of how to effectively communicate in a professional manner. Courses I’ve taken have also widened my perspective of the world around me, and I feel confident in navigating more of the unknown on my own.
