Going on college campus tours is the best way to know if a school is right for you. Our UNH campus tours are led by current students and showcase our beautiful campus, academic buildings, student life facilities and residence halls.

But there’s more to our campus! Keep reading to learn about unique and lesser-known parts of campus, including amazing laboratories, beautiful outdoor spaces and delicious dining locations. Today, we're featuring 10 campus locations you might not see on your UNH tour.

1. The Fishbowl

Looking for a place to hang out with your friends or hang a hammock on a warm day? The Fishbowl (the lawn in front of Scott Residence Hall) is where UNH students flock on a warm spring or fall day to do homework at the picnic tables or toss a frisbee or football with their friends.

2. The John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center

The John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center makes advanced manufacturing technologies available to all UNH students through a cross-curricular approach to engineering and manufacturing concepts. Students get hands-on experience in a factory environment while collaborating with many different industries.

3. The Dairy Bar

The UNH Dairy Bar serves up delicious sandwiches, salads and — best of all — ice cream. Food here is made from wholesome, local products and sustainability goals are met through compostable takeaway containers and EnergyStar-rated kitchen equipment.

4. Our Campus Amtrak Station 

Did you know that you can travel to locations including Boston, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine right from our campus? The Amtrak Downeaster can be boarded right from our campus station, conveniently located by the Dairy Bar. Students love being able to take fun day trips from campus or travel to see friends and family with ease

5. College Woods

As a UNH student, you’ll have access to 250 acres of woods, fields and streams, right on campus. UNH classes and research take place in College Woods and the woods are also a favorite place for walking, running, cross country skiing and other recreation. If you love the outdoors, you’ll appreciate having College Woods right in your backyard!

6. The InterOperability Laboratory

The UNH InterOperability Laboratory (IOL) is a technology testing lab that provides full-scale testing of the devices we use in our daily lives. UNH student interns work at the lab to gain experience and get a head start on their professional careers.

7. James Hall Outdoor Classroom

Outside the James Hall academic building, there’s an outdoor classroom, featuring a slate chalkboard and seats! On nice days, students can enjoy class outdoors.

8. The Chase Ocean Engineering Laboratory

This impressive facility includes a deep-water testing basin and a wave maker. UNH students use the Chase Ocean Engineering Laboratory for ocean engineering research, including ocean mapping, developing oil spill response technology and so much more!

9. The Peter T. Paul Entrepreneurship Center 

The Peter T. Paul Entrepreneurship Center (ECenter) is open to entrepreneurship-minded students from any college or major. Students can build their skills here through workshops, speaker series, ideathons and coaching. They can also apply for grants, funds and prizes through the ECenter to help defray the cost of a startup business. The Makerspace in the ECenter has 3D printers, laser burners and CNC milling and is also open and free for all UNH students.

10. Works of Art

UNH’s campus art is everywhere! From the cardinal by Health and Wellness to the Little Red Wagon outside the Paul Creative Arts Center to the Wildcat Statue by the Whittemore Center, there are so many cool statues and murals to take in as you walk around our campus.
