As a UNH tour guide, I am often asked what advice I’d give to incoming first-year students. I have one very simple answer: download the UNH mobile app!

The first step is picking a persona. Whether you are a prospective student, faculty member, student, or parent, there is a page for you. There are a number of resources for prospective students in particular. Maybe you have already explored some of these, like the virtual campus tour or the checklist for newly-admitted students. For parents, the app features a direct link to the parent portal, an updated academic calendar, all of our health and safety resources, and more!

For current students, the UNH mobile app is a true one-stop-shop. Here are the three features that I have used the most over the last four years:

  1. Maps: During my first few weeks on campus, I was an avid user of the maps feature. The UNH campus is designed to be walkable, which means that there are a lot of pathways and shortcuts between buildings; you can see all of these pedestrian walkways clearly on the map. You can also filter the map so that you just see the buildings with computer clusters and printing services – don’t underestimate how useful this is when you need to print an assignment quickly before class!

  2. Dining: The dining portal on the app puts the 10-day menu for each of our three award-winning dining halls in the palm of your hand. If you’re like me always on the hunt for the grilled-cheese bar – you can use the search feature to find the next time your favorite meal is being served! You can also check or add to your Cat’s Cache and Dining Dollars balance right from the app.

  3. Transit: The UNH bus system is the largest public transportation system in the state of New Hampshire. The mobile app shows live routes of all the buses running at any given time. This is ideal for rainy days when you want a weather-proof way to get to the gym, or when you’re headed to Portsmouth with your roommate to try the restaurant your resident assistant recommended!

Trying to figure out when the next hockey game is? Check UNH mobile. Have a question about COVID-19 protocols? Check UNH mobile. Want to know if any of the washing machines in your building are available? Check UNH mobile. Interested in supporting our student-run radio station, WUNH? Listen live right from UNH mobile.

I hope this helps you feel like a UNH pro from the moment you step on campus! You can download the UNH mobile app and learn more about its features here.
