August
Remember the Common App opens on 8/1
- Add UNH to your Common App so you’re ready to go when it’s time to hit submit.
Visit college campuses
- At UNH, you can choose from our 360-degree virtual tour, an in-person tour and other ways to visit.
Start brainstorming your college application essay.
- Review the prompts and think about what you want to write about.
September
Get ready to apply
- Talk to your high school counselor about your academic and career interests and college preferences.
- Reach out to your teachers about writing you a recommendation.
- Add UNH as a favorite school on your Naviance portal.
Join us for Fall Open House

Explore majors
- You’ll find lots of options at UNH – we offer more than 100 majors.
- Some majors have additional application requirements like a portfolio or an audition.
Familiarize yourself with scholarships and financial aid
- All UNH applicants are automatically considered for scholarships based on their cumulative GPA weighted on a 4.0. scale. You can even preview typical ranges for scholarships awarded to students with your GPA.
- Our Net Price Calculator gives you an idea of how much a UNH education might cost.
- Some of UNH’s most prestigious scholarship programs require applying Early Action.

Submit your Early Action application by 11/15

Regular Decision track
Write your college essay.
- If you have time off from school for the December holidays, consider using it to write a solid draft of your college essay.
Early Action track
Stay tuned to your email for invitations to apply to the Hamel Honors and Scholars College, the CEPS Industry Scholars program or the Rutman Fellows program
- These are some of UNH’s most prestigious scholarship and academic enrichment programs – and they just might change your life. All applicants are automatically considered for eligibility, but there are some small, additional steps once you are invited to apply.
Set up an account on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Preview required materials with a parent or guardian so you can start gathering everything you need in one place.
January
Regular Decision track
Make it your New Year’s Resolution to submit your UNH application
- All you need to do is add us to your Common Application and hit submit.
Early Action track
The first round of admissions decisions will be released this month
- You will receive a notification via email that there’s a decision in your applicant portal.
February
Regular Decision Track
Submit your application by the 2/1 Regular Decision deadline
March
Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the 3/1 deadline
