Attending UNH was a new adventure for Mel Nagashima '22 that led him outside his comfort zone. Through UNH’s Semester-in-the-City program, Mel interned with the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, learning firsthand how the nonprofit helps immigrant families. The experience sparked his interest in nonprofit work and led him to accept a job after graduation at The Boston Foundation. The academic rigor of Mel’s studies in Communication and International Affairs and the real-world experience he gained with his Semester-in-the-City internship paved the way to his current path in nonprofit communications.  Mel’s path is not one he would have expected when he first arrived at UNH, but his UNH journey has given him the confidence to make a change in the Boston community.
