As we wrap up our beach blankets and say goodbye to 80-degree days, UNH students are heading back to school and getting excited for the fall. If you’ve ever visited New England in the fall, you know that the end of the summer signals the beginning of crisp autumn air and brilliant foliage. Here at UNH, Wildcats anticipate campus traditions and activities that make the season even more fun. They also take the time to plan for the year ahead to stay on track with their academic and personal goals.
Keep following our Wildcat Life blog series to learn more about what student life at UNH is really like.
Here are a few of our favorite things about fall at UNH:
Getting a fresh start with academic resources
A new semester is a fresh opportunity to ask:
- What do I plan to accomplish?
- Who do I want to become?
Wildcats get ahead of the game by taking advantage of The Center for Academic Resources, whether they need tutoring, mentorship, or help with study skills and time management. The Connors Writing Center is where Wildcats drop by for one-on-one appointments to work on their papers or join writing accountability sessions.
Meeting new friends
As the fresh breeze of fall sweeps through the air, new Wildcats arrive at UNH, and returning students prepare for another year on campus. The start of the fall is a great time to keep your residence hall door open to see who may drop by, strike up a conversation in the dining hall, or say hi to the person sitting next to you in class. You never know who you will meet, which is why Wildcats love the possibility of expanding their community each year at UNH.
UDay
Speaking of meeting new friends, UNH students meet best friends and find their communities through student organizations. That’s why University Day or UDay is a must-attend event! UDay is a high-energy celebration where every student organization sets up a table on Thompson Hall (T-Hall) Lawn. UDay is the place to be, with food, fun and games.

Attending a football game
Nothing says Wildcat Spirit like attending a UNH football game. From seeing performances by the marching band, to throwing a cloud of white chalk in the air, students love experiencing fall outside in Wildcat Stadium. Homecoming is a time for students, alumni, and their families to enjoy all campus has to offer, including performances, tailgating, and, of course, UNH football.
Getting outside
UNH students head to nearby farms for apple picking, pumpkin picking, and other fall activities. As the leaves turn gold, red and orange on campus, students also snap pictures of the scenery around campus and take hikes in College Woods. They even travel to the White Mountains and Lake Winnipesaukee to take in breathtaking views.
As you can see, fall for Wildcats is time for making a fresh start and enjoying timeless UNH traditions. But, don’t just take our word for it; See for yourself by attending our Fall Open House. We hope to see you there!
