During my spring break abroad, I was able to go to Interlaken, Switzerland and go paragliding!
1. Studying abroad in Portugal and Namibia
My sophomore spring semester, I studied abroad in Lisbon, Portugal for four months and was able to expand my intercultural communication skills, independence and cultural knowledge. My junior year at UNH, I took the class Wildlife and Livestock in Namibia, where we learned about Namibia and traveled there for our spring break. This was an amazing opportunity that expanded my understanding of sustainability challenges in other areas of the world.
Now I am a global ambassador here on campus and help other students with the process of figuring out the right pathways when navigating the challenges of traveling abroad. UNH has amazing study abroad opportunities that can start in the classroom but go way beyond the classroom. Traveling abroad is accessible to a wide variety of students. Everyone who works in the study abroad office is so helpful with answering questions and providing guidance.

2. Adding a sustainability dual major
Another one of my favorite experiences on campus is being able to combine my business major with sustainability. I love the environment and working that value into my college career really helped my transition into college. One of my favorite classes I’ve taken at UNH that counted toward my sustainability dual major has been the B Impact Clinic. This was a very hands-on class, where I worked with a local company to help them with their B corporation certification goals. Having real-life connections and experiences through the clinic was a great way to expand my sustainability network and skills.
I highly recommend looking into UNH’s dual major options as they pair wonderfully with all majors. This semester, I am doing my capstone project on finding new markets for a Kenyan group of mothers to sell their products in. This will allow them to gain more funding to afford education, transportation and basic human needs. Being able to create real change through my academics has been great exposure to real-life problems and solutions.

3. Working at Union Court
Ever since my freshman year on campus, I have worked at Union Court, the food court in the Memorial Union Building (MUB). It has been great to have a campus job, and it has been easy to balance work with my school schedule. I have had so much fun working here and am now a student supervisor in my senior year. Working a campus job is convenient and an amazing way to meet other friends outside of my majors.

4. Being involved in clubs
UNH has so many clubs on campus, and it is so inspiring to see that there is something for everyone! I am currently a member of Her Campus, serving as the event coordinator, and I love every second! The club allows for women to have a fun, safe and creative space on campus. One of my other favorite clubs on campus is Slow Food UNH, where we work towards diminishing food waste sustainably and responsibly.
5. Participating in the UNH Maker's Expo
UNH has craft fairs each semester and the one before holiday break is my favorite! This past fall, I had a booth at the UNH Maker's Expo. I started a small spoon ring business this summer and have wanted to expand my network but was unsure how. I love that UNH creates an accessible way for students to thrive within their own creativity outside of the classroom. It was a blast to be a part of the Maker's Expo, and I highly recommend looking into it if you have your own side hobby to share with others.
