1. Researching on an Island
With the Shoals Undergraduate Research Group
Do you want to travel to a beautiful island off the coast of Maine to engage in research? The Shoals Undergraduate Research Group (SURG) might be right for you. Students spend the summer researching topics like marine biology and sustainability on Appledore Island. The program includes room & board, round-trip boat transportation and a stipend.

2. Getting Paid for Summer Research
With Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships
Do you want to spend the summer getting paid to work on a research project? The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) offers a $4,000 stipend and up to $600 in research expenses for 10 weeks of summer research on campus or at other research sites within the United States. Since this program is particularly for students doing independent research, it promotes independence in research at the undergraduate level.

3. Applying Sustainability to Any Field
With Sustainability Fellowships
Do you want to make a difference in the world? UNH Sustainability Fellowships pair students with municipal, educational, corporate and non-profit partners to work on transformative sustainability projects. Students of all majors participate and receive a stipend for their work.

4. Addressing Sustainability Challenges in the Global South
With the International Changemaker Grant
Do you want to expand your horizons while traveling to solve a global sustainability problem? The International Changemaker Grant enables UNH students to bring their knowledge and enthusiasm to help form and strengthen partnerships and international solidarity to address sustainability challenges globally. Grants range from $3,000 to $10,000 depending on proposals.

5. Funding Your Dream Internship
With the CEPS FUEL Fund
Are you an engineering or physical sciences student looking for an internship and a way to fund it? The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) FUEL Fund provides $3,000 stipends that can be used to support unpaid and/or lower-paying internships or housing expenses. Students are able to use the fund to finance a variety of internship and experiential learning opportunities that offer important career-ready skills.
