Admitted Student Visit Day is approaching and it's time to spend the day meeting professors and peers, while touring UNH's living and learning spaces. Previously on the blog, we answered the question: What is Admitted Student Visit Day? Now, let's hear about Admitted Student Visit Day directly from a current student. Read on to learn why Josh's decision to attend UNH was influenced by his Admitted Student Visit Day experience.

Biomedical Science: Medical Microbiology Option
My name is Josh Berthiaume and I am a senior biomedical science: medical microbiology option major. I am also a tour guide on campus, part of the honors program and an undergraduate researcher.
Admitted Student Visit Day (ASVD) is just around the corner, and I want to share my experience from my ASVD and how that helped me decide to attend UNH!
I remember sitting at home and debating whether to attend UNH’s Admitted Student Visit Day when I was trying to find what school was the best fit for me. Being an in-state student, touring UNH was originally not a high priority of mine since I had visited campus many times as a kid.
It was my mom who ended up convincing me to give UNH a chance and attend the visit day; and I am so thankful she did because the activities and people I met on that day made me realize that I belong at UNH.

During my Admitted Student Visit Day, I attended multiple information sessions on majors that I was interested in and met many of the professors I would be learning from. At the time, I was interested in engineering, and I remember taking a tour of the lab space and listening to many professors talk about their research.
While listening to the professors, I could tell that they were not only incredibly passionate about their research and classes, but they were also passionate about their students and their work. I distinctly remember one of the professors tearing up over how proud he was of some of his students. It was moments like these that showed me that I would be supported at UNH, and that I was more than just a number.

I was also able to walk around Durham and get to see many of the resources UNH has to offer. For example, I got the chance to try food from one of the campus dining halls and toured the campus recreation building, library and many of the dorm buildings.
While touring the campus, I also had the chance to interact with students and learn about student organizations and campus activities. Coming to Admitted Student Visit Day helped me visualize myself at UNH, and I hope you choose to attend so you can see if UNH is the right fit for you!
