What is a scholarship?
A scholarship is a type of financial aid that you don’t need to pay back. You will be given a certain amount of money to cover tuition and fees to college. You will either apply separately for a scholarship or be considered based on your application to college. Some scholarships have specific criteria which must be met for consideration.
How do I apply for UNH scholarships?
Just by applying to UNH, you’re automatically eligible for merit scholarships. These scholarships are based on your GPA and academic performance in high school. Learn more here about scholarships.

Here are just a few of our life-changing scholarships:
CEPS Industry Scholarship
The College of Engineering and Physical Science (CEPS) offers the CEPS Industry Scholarship to first-year applicants to the college. You must apply Early Action (by November 15) to be considered! This scholarship covers a significant portion of a student’s tuition, fees and room & board for four years of undergraduate education at UNH.
Hamel Scholarship
If you’re a first-year UNH applicant from New Hampshire, you could qualify for the Hamel Scholarship. This scholarship provides substantial financial support in the form of a yearly scholarship plus special opportunities for academic and co-curricular engagement. To be considered for this scholarship, it is recommended that you apply Early Action (by November 15).
Are transfer students eligible for scholarships?
Accepted transfer students from both associate degree programs and from four-year colleges are eligible for UNH scholarships. Applications must be submitted by the semester deadlines to be eligible for these scholarships, which are not available to students who have already received a bachelor's degree.
