The Best Places on the UNH Campus
Touring the University of New Hampshire (UNH) campus is the best way to experience student life and envision yourself here. While our tours highlight the key areas of campus, there's so much more to explore beyond what we can cover during the visit. Welcome to our My Favorite Places on Campus blog series, where UNH students walk you through some of the coolest and most unexpected locations where they spend time on campus!
Today, Sia Manna '26, a computer science major, talks about the best places to spend time on campus, including the place with the best deal on thrifted clothes and a natural escape filled with frogs and squirrels.

This is the clothing rack outside Echo Thrift Shop. They have an incredible deal where you can fill a green bag with as many of these clothes as you can and get them all for just $5!
1. Echo Thrift Shop
One of the most underrated spots on campus definitely has to be Echo Thrift Shop, which is a volunteer-run thrift shop collaboration between the nonprofit organization Friends in Action and the Community Church of Durham. I have volunteered there during the summer and met some of the nicest ladies while working there. Their clothing selection and deals are incredible. I have probably thrifted most, if not all, of my clothes from Echo (I would definitely recommend the fill-a-bag for $5 deal)!

This is me studying in one of the collaboration spaces at Kingsbury Library! I love using these spaces to study and take quizzes because the quiet space helps me concentrate.
2. Kingsbury Library
While UNH has a great selection of study spaces, my favorite would definitely be the collaboration and study spaces in the Engineering, Math and Computer Science Library or Kingsbury Library. I often use these collaboration spaces to work on group projects for my internship and courses, as well as to find a quiet space to concentrate on studying or taking a quiz. The library also has a great selection of textbooks that supplement my course lecture slides.

This is me at one of the many workshops at the ECenter. I really enjoy going to these workshops and conferences because I can meet so many incredible entrepreneurs and work on my ideas with them.
3. The ECenter
The Peter T. Paul Entrepreneurship Center (ECenter) is one of the most incredible resources on campus and I highly recommend checking it out, regardless of your major. They have a wide variety of programs, competitions and workshops that help foster an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. I have been involved with the ECenter’s many enrichment programs since my freshman year. They have excellent workspaces and I have met so many incredible entrepreneurs through the many workshops, coaching sessions and events they host.

College Woods is an awesome place on campus to take hikes and "touch grass" in the middle of your exams!
4. College Woods
College Woods is a lovely stretch of woods, trails and streams located on the west side of campus. I often go on long walks along the dirt trails, sit along the banks of the lake to observe frogs and squirrels and collect pinecones, rocks and acorns. It’s super relaxing to go there and enjoy nature (and touch grass once in a while during a long semester of assignments, quizzes and exams).

This is a selfie I took at Campus Creamery. I ordered one of my favorite treats, "dirty water," which is absolutely delicious, contrary to the name!
5. Campus Creamery
Campus Creamery's ice cream is incredible and it’s a great place to enjoy a treat with your friends and family! They have an amazing selection of ice cream flavors. I personally love their root beer floats and mint chocolate ice cream. Getting some ice cream is a great way to catch up with your friends and get a little sweet treat.

This is me at the UNH Observatory. I love coming here with my friends at night to look at the stars and planets through the telescope and learn more about astronomy.
BONUS! UNH Observatory
As someone who loves astronomy, I love visiting the UNH Observatory to look at the stars, constellations and planets with their high-power telescopes when there’s a clear night sky. They even have free public visiting sessions. Sometimes, I like taking walks over there during the day because it’s so close to College Woods.
