“I would say the most important life lesson I’ve learned at UNH is that you can constantly redefine who you want to be. My time at UNH really taught me to think past just the four years I was going to be here and think about what I want to do with my career.”

Alana

Alana Pettaway’s mechanical engineering degree from UNH landed her a job as an industrial engineer at Pratt & Whitney—while also teaching her to accept new challenges and that it’s okay to be constantly redefining herself. Alana credits UNH Career and Professional Success (CaPS), industry partners and professors as the ones who prepared her for first getting a summer internship, then a co-op and then a full-time job at Pratt & Whitney. While interning at Pratt & Whitney, she gained leadership experience and found she could easily apply the problem-solving skills she learned at UNH to her work. Alana’s advice: always be willing to redefine who you are and the career you envision yourself in.
