Your UNH journey is about to begin. Do you know the campus lingo? At UNH, we have abbreviations and nicknames for almost every area of campus. Here are some of the most common ones to get you started.

The Whitt
The Whitt – or the Whittemore Center – is home to UNH Wildcats hockey and big concerts put on by the Student Committee on Popular Entertainment, which is also known as SCOPE.

The Fishbowl
This area in front of Scott Hall is where different events and activities take place, and students enjoy relaxing on the lawn when the weather is nice.

T Hall
This is what we call Thompson Hall, the historic and iconic center of campus with the big UNH sign out front.

Ham Smith
Located right next to the Memorial Union Building, Hamilton Smith is the central academic home of UNH’s College of Liberal Arts. Many of the classes in the discovery program also take place here.

HoCo
Holloway Commons is the largest and busiest dining hall on campus.

MUB
Connected to HoCo, the Memorial Union Building (MUB) is the student union and home base for 200+ student clubs and organizations. Grab a coffee or a bite to eat. Find a quiet study spot. Meet up with friends. Get involved. It’s all here.

Upper Quad
This is the area where you will find Randall, Hitchcock and Devine residence halls.
Lower Quad
This is the area where you will find Engelhardt, Gibbs and Hunter residence halls.

PCAC
The Paul Creative Arts Center is the campus hub for the fine and performing arts at UNH. Whether you are looking for a practice space, attending a play or just checking out the beautiful murals, you can’t miss it.

Wildkitty
The Wildcatessen is a mini grocery store and café located under the Stillings dining hall. It’s open late, making it a perfect spot for study session snacks.
Philly
Philbrook Dining Hall is the closest dining hall to many of the first-year student residence halls.
SERCs
This is the Southeast Residential Community, where you’ll find Handler (SERC A), Peterson (SERC B) and Haaland (SERC C) residence halls.
DHOP
This is the Durham House of Pizza, a Wildcat favorite for pizza located on Main Street.
