Transportation and Commuter Students
Commuter Student Services
Located in Room 122 of the Memorial Union Building (MUB), Commuter Student Services in the Leadership Center is a first point of contact for off-campus students who have questions or concerns. Call 603-862-0303, visit the Web site at http://www.unh.mub.com/offcampus, or stop-by. The Information Desk (603-862-2600) is located in the front lobby6 of the MUB and provides off-campus housing lists, bus information, and even jumper cables.
Planes, trains, and automobiles
UNH buses run both on campus and between UNH and the neighboring towns of Portsmouth (via the malls and movie theatre), Newmarket, and Dover, and are free with your student ID. The Downeaster Amtrak train offers quick and easy transportation to North Station in Boston, Mass., and to Portland, Maine. The C&J Trailways bus service leaves from nearby Dover or Portsmouth to Boston’s South Station, and there is a shuttle from South Station to Logan Airport. The Manchester, N.H., airport is 40 minutes away; Boston Logan Airport is just over an hour away.

Parking
If you will be living in a residence hall and are planning to bring a motor vehicle to campus, you must contact Parking Services at 603-862-1010 to discuss your eligibility to purchase a parking permit. UNH may not be able to accommodate every request for a permit.
Commuting students can purchase parking permits online, generally beginning in early June. Instructions, including restrictions, are posted on the Transportation Web site. [www.unh.edu/transportation] You must live at least one mile away from campus to be eligible for a commuter parking permit.
Carpooling
Want to find someone to carpool with? Visit www.unhmub.com/off_campus, then “Wildcat Rides,” a free and confidential way to carpool to campus. For a free Carpool Parking Permit, visit Parking Services at the Visitors Center with your commuter parking permit number and have the person you carpool with do the same. In addition, some local businesses not affiliated with UNH rent parking spaces. Learn more about off-campus parking sites. [http://www.unh.edu/transportation/parking/studentpermits.htm]
Commuting Students
Commuter Student Services strives to help commuting students stay connected to campus life. Our programs include Commuter and Transfer Survival Day (an orientation session), the Commuter Connection (a weekly e-newsletter with campus information and events), and What’s On Wednesday (fun and free activities during lunch in the MUB).
