Completing Your CredentialsFinal high school transcriptAll enrolling students must send UNH their final official high school transcript by July 1. Admission to UNH is conditional pending satisfactory completion of high school coursework. Advanced Placement (AP) creditUNH recognizes the academic rigor of the Advanced Placement (AP) program. We will grant course credit for appropriate scores for students who take AP examinations. Official score reports from the College Board must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions. You will be notified of credit awarded. Previous college creditIf you are enrolled in college-level courses as a high school student, have your official college transcript sent to the Admissions Office. You will be notified of any credit awarded. If you plan to take college coursework prior to your arrival in the fall, you may contact the Office of Admissions for suggestions on relevant coursework to take in order to receive credit. SAT-Subject Test creditThe SAT foreign language test may be used to satisfy the foreign language requirement of our Bachelor of Arts degree and selected Bachelor of Science degree programs. Scores vary by test. If you received a score indicated below and are required by your major to take a foreign language, please notify the dean’s office of your college division. SAT-Subject test Exemption PolicyMinimum Scores Required: Chinese 520 Changing majorsAt UNH, it’s okay if you don’t know what you want to major in right away. About 75 percent of our students change their majors at least once during the course of their time here. To request a change of major prior to Orientation, contact the Admissions Office by e-mail or by postal mail, and we will review your application for the change. Please note that the University cannot guarantee approval of all requests. DeferralsAdmitted students who would like to postpone enrollment at UNH for a semester or a year can request a deferral. Requests for deferrals must be put in writing and sent to the Admissions Office. Deferrals are granted for personal reasons—time off to work, to travel, or for medical reasons, among others. (Students who choose to defer will not be able to transfer coursework from other colleges to UNH, with few exceptions.)
