Undergraduate Research

The Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research offers programs that engage you in the discovery of knowledge—at home and in distant lands. Whether through a funded program, research-intensive course, working in one of the University’s many centers or institutes, or teaming up with a favorite professor to pursue a mutual academic interest, the opportunities to become involved in research abound for students in all majors. Study Abroad

You can spend a summer, a semester, or a year studying abroad in one of UNH’s 16 managed programs in 10 countries. Don’t see your top choice listed? Let us know and we will work with you to get you where you want to go. UNH’s Center for International Education [www.unh.edu/cie] is the clearinghouse for information on study abroad programs. The Shoals Marine Laboratory

The Shoals Marine Laboratory (SML) is a field station on Appledore Island catering to students who would like to focus on marine topics within their major. Jointly operated by the University of New Hampshire and Cornell University, the SML offers more than 20 summer credit courses designed for undergraduate students. Learn more. The New Hampshire Space Grant Consortium

A collaboration of the University of New Hampshire and Dartmouth College, the consortium allows UNH undergraduates pursuing degrees in the earth sciences, engineering, physics, natural resources, computer science, molecular biology, and education to apply for research internships. National Student Exchange

The National Student Exchange is a consortium of more than 180 colleges and universities throughout the United States and its territories. Through this academic program, students continue to make progress toward their UNH degree while taking advantage of the opportunity to study in a different part of the country. Learn more.
