University Honors ProgramOpen to any student who ranks in the top 10 percent of their UNH college division after one semester. First-year students may also be invited to join at the time of admission to the University. First-year students admitted to the Honors Program typically rank in the top 10 percent of their class and have a combined SAT score (critical reading and math) of 1310+ or 30+ on the ACT. Benefits of participating in the Honors Program include an Honors advisor to help with course selection and career advice, smaller seminar-style classes and personalized instruction, the opportunity to conduct original research with a faculty mentor, and the option of living in the Honors themed housing. The Shoals Marine LaboratoryThe Shoals Marine Laboratory is a field station on Appledore Island, catering to students who would like to focus on marine topics within their major. Jointly operated by the University of New Hampshire and Cornell University, the SML offers more than 20 summer credit courses designed for undergraduate students.
