UNH In-State Merit Scholarship Information

Dollar amounts and criteria are established for students entering UNH in Fall 2008 and are subject to change.

Typically, students awarded a merit scholarship by the admissions office will meet the criteria described below.

Scholarship Award Amount (per year for four years) Criteria
Governor's Success $10,000

Selection is very competitive, is not automatic, and limited to Early Action applicants. Limited number awarded each year to the highest caliber in-state admitted students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement coupled with notable leadership skills in the school or community.

To be considered, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Apply by the Early Action deadline of November 15, 2008
  • Top 1-3 percent of graduating class or equivalent level of achievement if unranked or home schooled
  • 1310+ SAT (Critical Reading and Mathematics scores only) or 30+ ACT (minimum)
  • Challenging college preparatory curriculum characterized by the exhaustion of all academic options in the high school curriculum
  • Recommendations that support leadership qualities and potential of the student
  • Required participation in the UNH Honors Program
Presidential $4,000
  • Top 10 percent of graduating class (or equivalent)
  • Strong college preparatory curriculum and consistent achievement
  • 1310+ SAT (Critical Reading and Mathematics scores only) or 30+ ACT
Dean's $1,000
  • Top 15 percent of graduating class (or equivalent)
  • Strong college preparatory curriculum and consistent achievement
  • 1170+ SAT (Critical Reading and Mathematics scores only) or 26+ ACT

Scholarships are renewable for up to 8 consecutive semesters of academic work at the University of New Hampshire provided that the recipient students make appropriate progress towards their degree, meet the GPA requirements (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and demonstrate the acceptable standards of citizenship and character expected of all members of the university community.
