General Transfer Policy
For credit to transfer from another college or university, the following criteria must be met:
- Coursework must be completed at an institution fully accredited by a regional association of schools and colleges.
- Course grade must be a minimum of “C”, or its equivalent.
- Course may not be remedial or vocational in nature or taken as part of a certificate program.
- Mathematics coursework must be at the Pre-Calculus level, or higher, to transfer. No credit is awarded for mathematics courses which duplicate high school level Algebra or below. Credit is awarded for Finite Mathematics and/or Statistics courses.
- To receive credit for elementary level foreign language coursework, a student could not have completed two or more years of study in the same language during high school.
- To receive credit from College Board Advanced Placement Examinations or College Level Examination Program, have official scores sent to the Admissions Office for review and possible credit award.
- The maximum credit accepted in transfer from all external sources (including UNH/UNHM continuing education coursework):
- 96 semester hours towards a bachelor’s degree
- 48 semester hours towards an associate degree
- 64 semester hours from associate level coursework (this restriction does not apply to associate degree programs at UNH-Manchester or the Thompson School of Applied Science)
